Teaching a patient the pyschological adjustment of being diagnoised with diabetes

My assignment is to present a short presentation to the instructor on a one on one setting.  The topic I am to discuss with the professor is the pyschological adjustment of being diagnoised with diabetes.  I am assuming the professor wants to be treated as a patient.   I included several areas that I am thinking I may address in the presentation.  But to this point I have not formulated the substance of my presentation.  Thus the problem..... ideas on what content to present.

such as the 5 stages of denial, financial aspects of, freedom, trying to prepare the client mentally.  May feel they are being "labled" as ill, or just fear in general, these types of things...
