Definition of Small Arms

Often, when considering the many weapons used in conflict and war, an important category is left out:  small arms.  Given the estimation that 90% of the worlds war victims die from small and light arms such as rifles, machine guns, and pistols, a clear definition is necessary to assess their role in war, conflict and crime.
