Executive Branch of the Federal Government

Hello, I am having a dispute with a classmate and need someone who is an expert on US Government to determine who is right or wrong. I believe that a US Secret Service Agent is classified as part of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. Initially they were part of the US Treasury Dept. and today are classified under the Dept of Homeland Defense. Am I correct?
