Sackur-Tetrode equation - I have been searching for a good algebraic derivation of this equation. It seems as though the Stirling approximation is used within the derivation. I am just having some trouble understanding some of the different derivations I have seen. Can someone derive this equation with some explained steps for me? I think if there are some explanations with the steps, I will be ab...
Derive hooke's law and find the "elastic entropy" - Polymers, like rubber, are made of very long molecules that tangle into a configuration that has lots of S. A crude model of a rubber band contains N links, all of equal length L, which can only point either left or right (2 possible states). The total length of the band is thus the net displacement from the first to the final link. Let us to so...
Derivations - Derive equations:
S = -(∂F/∂T)_V, N = Nk [ln (V/N_vQ) + 5/2] - ∂F_int/∂T and
μ = (∂F/∂N)_T, V = -kT ln (VZ_int/N_vQ)
for the entropy and chemical potential of an ideal gas.
Derive an expression for Entropy (S). - Derive an expression for entropy (S) for a monatomic gas.
I think I have to start with the molecular partition function and derive (S) from there, I am not sure.
