Measuring the amt. of air consumed whilte scuba diving 30 minutes

I am the father of a junior in high school that needs help on the following assignment. I am not looking for someone to do the assignment. I need assistance with helping my child finding the formulas needed to calculate and determine answers to the questions below. He will do this assignment. You will see the questions below that must be answered. Introduction: Scuba diving is a recreational sport that is enjoyed by thousands of people world-wide. However, it is also one of those sports that can be fatal if the equipment malfunctions or if the divers are careless. The SCUBA tank (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) was invented by the famous underwater scientist,... click for more

weather forcost

It is the middle of winter and the weatherman forecasts a cold, overcast but dry day with average temperatures of -2°C. However, he highlights the presence of a strong wind with a wind chill factor that will make it feel like -l0°C. What is meant by the term 'wind chill'? How can it be quantified? - discuss its physical origins and assumptions. If a person stands in the middle of a field and holds a thermometer up to the wind for five minutes, what temperature will it read?

A floating spherical shell in water

A hollow spherical iron shell floats almost completely submerged in water. The outer diameter is 54.0 cm, and the density of iron is 7.87 g/cm3. Find the inner diameter. I have no clue how to start or solve this problem. Thanks for the help!

A pressure problem using different areas

A hydraulic press for compacting powdered samples has a large cylinder which is x = 11.8 cm in diameter, and a small cylinder with a diameter of y = 1.96 cm (see figure). A lever is attached to the small cylinder as shown. The sample which is placed on the large cylinder, has an area of 4.09 cm2. What is the pressure on the sample if F = 319 N is applied to the lever? I have no idea how to start and solve this problem. Thanks for the help!

Pressure on a submarine

Assuming the density of seawater is 1.03 g/cm3, find the total weight of water on top of a nuclear submarine at a depth of 185 m if its (horizontal cross-sectional) hull area is 3200 m2. In atmospheres, what pressure would a diver experience at this depth? Do you think that occupants of a damaged submarine at this depth could escape without special equipment? I have no idea how to start or solve this problem. Thanks for the help!
