What are some of the traditional/conventional models, theories, and practices embodied in philosophy, culture, and common sense that we typically draw on and make use of in creating a "realistic," objective picture of ourselves and the world in which we live?

A comparison and relative evaluation of Confucian and Taoist philosophy.

Original Student Inquiry: "Compare any two Eastern philosophies. Take sides, determine which philosophies are most persuasive and explain why." Chose to compare Confucianism and Taoism.

Broad discussion of similarities and differences between African, Asian and Native American philosophies. Non-European vs. European philosophy is also discussed. Finally the criteria for making meaningful distinctions between different philosophical based on culture is also explored.

Is a person more than a physical body? What is the mind? What is thought?
