Applying Plato's allegory of the cave into the movie "dead poet's society"
As you saw in the movie, selected groups of students at Welton would gather at an old INdian cave and read poetry, letting the words "drip from their tongues like honey." THe boys are inspired to form their own Dead Poets Society. Here, I assume that shadows on the wall is Welton academy(their reality) Their eyes are opened to girls, acting etc For that reason, some of the characters end up with tragic circumstances:Neil's death, CHarlie Dalton's suspension from school. Applying Aristotle's poetics to the film Dead poets society
I need to be applying the film Dead Poets Society to Aristotle's Poetics only . I got help from an OTA on this subject twice, but there're parts I am still puzzled. So here it is. - If the tragic hero was Robin Williams, is it his teaching method( making them think for themselves and not what any authority figure tells them) that is the tragic flaw? -Was the story cathartic(emotional purge)?
