The Third Reich was one of the most brutal political regimes the world has ever seen.  One of the most astonishing facts is that the Nazis did not take power forcefully but were elected the largest party in the Reichstag (German Parliament).  Why is it that the Nazis appealed to so many Germans when Germany was among the most civilized nations in the world?
