Camera angles

Assuming you just got back from a wonderful European vacation and that you shot eight hours of videotapes while you were there, how would you edit the hours of vacation video you shot into one 20-minute segment that your friends might be willing to sit through? What kinds of editing techniques would you use (such as transitions in scenes and between scenes, ways to compress time, means to establish locations, and so on)?
