Fuel Cells & Alternative Fuel Vehicles
Hybrid Cars using Fuel Cells for their energy source 1. Would you consider buying one of these in the future? Why or Why Not? 2. Why do you think there are not more of these vehicles in use? I have all of the information on these cars but would like another opinion on these two questions please. Include any references. Thanks.

Develop a plan to assist a developing country with its food and water supply
Choose a developing country, such as Cambodia, Haiti, Maldives, or Rwanda. For an extensive listing of developing countries, check the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) column on this page: http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/35/9/2488552.pdf • Congratulations! You are in charge of the world (Miller, 2005). You have been asked to assist a developing country with its food and water supply. When devising your plan, you should list and weigh the pros and cons of at least three alternative methods for maximizing food production, decide on the one you think would be most successful, and explain your reasons for choosing it. Identify at least two ways this country is misusing its water supply, and propos... click for more

Biodiversity Museum Exhibit presentation
Congratulations! You have been hired by the largest natural history museum in the world (Miller, 2005). Your first responsibility will be to design an exhibit that emphasizes the importance of biodiversity. The exhibit should focus on the region you have chosen for your final project, which is the Tropical rainforest of Brazil, and should introduce visitors to the causes of wildlife extinction as well as demonstrate ways wildlife extinction impacts our world. When outlining the causes, be sure to show the relationship between deforestation and wildlife extinction in this region and others. In the deforestation segment of your exhibit, you should show estimations of the current and potential ... click for more

A coal-fired power plant produces a net electrical output of 500 MW.
3. A coal-fired power plant produces a net electrical output of 500 MW. The composition of the coal burned is C = 72%, H = 5%, S = 2%, O = 8%, N = 1%, and ash = 12% by weight. Its higher heating value (HV) is 30,940 kJ/kg. The net thermal efficiency is 33 percent. a) How much coal (in metric tons) does this plant consume in one day running at full capacity? b) Assume that 75 percent of the ash in coal is entrained in the flue gas stream as flyash and the remainder is collected in the boiler as bottom ash. How many tons per day of flyash would be emitted from this plant in the absence of any particulate controls? c) How many tons/day of SO2 are emitted if 97 percent of the sulfur in coal i... click for more
