This posting overviews Ibsen's work.
Ibsen's play, 'A 'Doll's house," is examined. These questions are posed: 1. Create a theme the author explores throughout the novel. Once you determine a theme, you should ask how does the author develop the theme? Your answers will help generate body paragraphs. For example, does the author use a societal issue to develop a theme? More than one societal issues? (Obviously you would have to be familiar with a bit of history related to the time period but you are assigned background material in your reading for various stages of society’s development.) You then might develop several body paragraphs that focus on societal issues and how the author develops his/her theme in the novel highlighting these issues.

I need someone to point me to some journal articles that might answer these questions for me. This question will be on my final exam tomorrow, and I am not fully prepared for it. It is open-notes, so I can prepare for it. All I can make are general comments, but do not have specific examples. Right now I am advocating that women should have their own "mini-can... click for more
