Singapore's Culture/Advertising

I am working on a project. I had to pick a product and export it overseas. I picked red wine and the importing country is Singapore. I have spent hours researching certain information and I have been unsuccessful. Perhaps, you can help. I am aware that Singapore is a very controlled country. I need help with the following: Is there a certain protocol that US companies must follow when advertising in Singapore? I understand that advertisements cannot contain any hype. On the other hand, can U.S. companies do cold calling, radio advertising, newspaper advertising, or mass mailings in Singapore. I would think that they could not; however, I am looking for specific information. Who are ... click for more

Going Global

Any business investment decision is for the pursuit of profit in exchange for the risk taken. There is definitely a tradeoff between risk and reward: return is an increasing function of risk. How does this concept apply to the various alternative strategies to tackle a foreign market: acquisition of a local firm, direct investment in production and distribution assets (greenfield project), joint venture, technology licensing, and exports only? How do they differ from each other in terms of commitment of capital and other resources, and how do they differ from each other in terms of expected return?

Exporting wine from US winery to Singapore

I have searched the Internet and I have received conflicting information on the following: Are any special certifications needed? In one place, I found that none were necessary and in another site I found that they were necessary. Any thoughts? Any special taxes? There are excise taxes, but I have found 3 different numbers concerning this and all were in the same year. Any thoughts?

Trade liberalization conflicts with morally-conscious environmental policies

Environmentalists argue that trade liberalization harms the environment. Arguments against the trade liberalization conflicting with morally-conscious environmental policies. Proponents of trade liberalization argue that freer trade might actually improve the quality of the environment. For example, the international environmental policy of the U.S. and other industrial nations is based on the "polluter-pays principle." This approach is intended to give producers the incentive to develop more pollution control techniques.

International economic policy

I need help with an extra credit essay for economics. Using both offer curves and a two by two payoff matrix, determine the optimal foreign economic policy of a hegemon. Explain why other non-economic foregin policy goals may cause a hegemon to shift its policy away from its optimal foreign economic policy to a policy closer to free trade. Either in a partial or a general equilibrium setting explain how domestic economic interests may further shift a country's foreign economic policy either toward free trade or toward protectionism.
