What causes "illegal start of expression" errors? in Java

Does anyone have any ideas what normally causes "illegal start of expression" errors? Is there something the compiler is looking for in general? I am trying to debug a program and I keep getting this error. This error is before one of my public void statements. I was just wondering if anyone has any helpful tips in what to look for in the code.
