Mass of unknown metal, liquid


I need help calculating the density of an unknown metal for an experiment in my Lab class. We were using a pycnometer, water, and an unknown liquid, and an unknown metal. Part one of the experiment deals with getting the density of the unknown liquid, which I think I did okay. I am having trouble with part 2 of the lab in which I need to find the density of the unknown metal and then identify it.


Here is the recorded data that I have to work with:

Mass of empty flask= 32.722g
Mass of flask + unknown liquid= 67.770g
Mass of flask + unknown metal = 57.319g
Mass of flask + unknown metal + water= 74.650g
Mass of flask + water = 59.364g
Temp of water = 22 degrees C (at this temp, density is 0.99777 degrees celsius)


Part 1, which I have complete, is to find the density of an unknown liquid. I think I did that one right:

Mass of water (contained in flask)= 26.642g
Volume of flask = 26.702cm3
Mass of unknown liquid = 35.048g
Density of unknown liquid = 1.313g/cm3



The information on part 2 that I need help with is:

Mass of metal __________________g
Mass of water (in flask with metal)________________g
Volume of water (in flask with metal)__________________cm3
Volume of metal__________________cm3
Density of Metal__________________g/cm3
Identity of metal__________________



I have been working on it since Wednesday, and I can't seem to find a correct answer. Twice I got the density of WATER as my answer. I just don't know where I'm going wrong, and I think this lab was supposed to be easy!
