Observations: i) A reacts spontaneously with 1 mol/L BNO3, 1 mol/L D(NO3)2 and dilute sulfuric acid. A does not react with 1 mol/L C(NO3)2 ii) B does not react spontaneously with any of the 1 mol/L solutions above or with dilute sulfuric acid. iii) C reacts spontaneously with dilute sulfuric acid and with 1 mol/L solutions of all the other metallic salts. iv) D reacts spontaneously with 1 mol/L BNO3. It does not react with dilute sulfuric acid. a) Use the observations and arrange the following five reduction half-cell reactions in order, the one with the ... click for more

When glass is heated, a yellow flame is observed around the point of heating. What does the yellow flame indicate? Why is it observed when glass is heated? I think it indicates the spectrum of the silicon in glass & occurs when the glass is heated because the heat energy excites the electrons in the glass.

I have a question that I found in a text book, can anyone help me answer it. It seems to be safe. Some of you are concerned with the fact that the operator of a vietemese restaurant used some stones as "boiling chips" in the pots where they cook food. Please provide a paragraph to provide rationale to support your (or no) argument/concerns with regards to the boiling stones (/3) This is intended as a "critical thinking" exercise; instructors are the target audience.
