acid hydrolisis of polysaccharides

I have carried out a practical, which has the AIM of comparing the hydrolysis of glycogen, starch, and amylose. We used 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid DNS which in alkaline solution was reduced to 3-amino-5-dinitrosalicylic acid . we also used iodine, which gives a gave a red-brown colour when mixed with glycogen and partially hydrolised starch . I need to know the basic principles of this test, what is trying to find and what it should find; with regard to comparison of hydrolysis of glycogen, amylose and other polysaccharides. furthermore, i am not sure of how i should go about paying for this service , if someone can help i will arrange for further credits or other form of appropriate paym... click for more

Standard Reduction Potentials

Standard Reduction Potentials: The standard reduction potential, E10, of any redox pair is defined for the half-cell reaction: Oxidizing agent + n electrons -----> reducing agent The E10 value for the NAD+/ NADH and pyruvate/lactate conjugate redox pairs are -0.32 V and -0.19 V, respectively. (a) Which conjugate pair has the greater tendency to lose electrons? Explain. (b) Which is the stronger oxidizing agent? Explain (c) Beginning with 1m concentration of each reactant and product at pH 7, in which direction will the following reaction proceed? Pyruvate + NADH +H+ ------> lactate + NAD+ (d) What is the standard free-energy change (∆G10) at 25°C for the conversion of py... click for more
